You know that HIPAA and its implementing regulations provide to your patients/clients a HIPAA right of access to see records about them and to obtain copies of those records, with certain conditions, caveats, restrictions, and prohibitions. But do you know the exact words to say under the law to a cranky patient/client looming over your workstation, pounding his fist on your counter, and demanding his records? The attached video may give you a good script to adopt in that regard the next time that you find yourself in such a situation. Warning: adult language.
