EMR Legal and Veterans Press are pleased to announce that Joe Borich has joined both EMR Legal and Veterans Press as Vice President of Operations. Joe has an MBA, a Juris Doctor, and an LLM (Master of Laws—even though it is called a “Master,” it is a higher degree than a J.D). He has his own law firm in Leawood, Kansas, a Kansas City suburb, which provides legal, consulting, and business leadership coaching services nationwide for the health care industry. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Borich has worked extensively in the areas of medical records and personal privacy. He has been affiliated with me and my HIPAA training and publications for more than a decade. Mr. Borich is affiliated with the Harvard Medical School of Healthcare Coaches (Institute of Coaching, “IOC”). He is also on the Board of Directors for the Physicians’ Coaching Institute in Seattle, the premier national health care coaching organization. He is also a licensed coach and consultant with the Physicians Institute and Dr. Francine Gaillore.
Mr. Borich is an experienced litigator, having practiced in more than 100 jury trials and/or appellate appearances, including a U.S. Supreme Court appeal. He is licensed in Missouri and Kansas, including their federal courts. He has also been an expert witness. Like me, he has an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the premier lawyer rating service. “A” stands for preeminent in his field of the law, and “V” stands for highest ethics.
Over the last decade, MR. Borich has focused on HIPAA compliance. He has conducted HIPAA training, risk analysis, HIPAA consulting, and compliance audits for hospitals, medical practices, governmental entities, insurers, and business associates nationwide.
Welcome, Joe! You will no doubt make EMR Legal’s training and consulting and Veterans Press’s publications even better!
For those of you who may be wondering whether Alice McCart, our other vice president, legal editor, and writing teacher, is still with us, yes, she is. She is in a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the moment, healing her broken leg from a fall.
